FGM Architects (FGMA) has received the 2022 Service Award for “Outstanding Firm” with 50+ Employees from AIA Northeast Illinois (AIA-NEI), a regional chapter of the American Institute of Architects.
The award was presented to FGMA by AIA-NEI Board Member Alex Lopez, AIA, (Cordogan Clark & Associates) during a celebratory dinner at the Redstone American Grill on October 13, 2022. The “Outstanding Firm” Service Award is given biannually by AIA-NEI to recognize member architecture firms that have made significant contributions to the larger profession.
Accepting the award, Andy Jasek, AIA, FGMA Executive Vice President and Managing Director said, “This recognition is shared by the entire FGMA team, all of whom work tirelessly every day to realize our mission which is We Build Community. FGMA’s work is enriched by our colleagues in the AIA-NEI community, and we are truly grateful to receive this honor.”
FGMA’s submission for the “Outstanding Firm” award emphasized the firm’s strategic growth, including the planned expansion of its practice to Texas and Northern Virginia; staff expansion, including the establishment of key leadership positions such as “Chief People Officer” and “Sustainability Leader”; the breadth of its practice areas, including the addition of faith-based and multifamily/mixed use facilities; and its tradition of award-winning designs.

In addition to receiving the “Outstanding Firm” award, two key FGMA staff were also honored. Senior Associate Maggie Krieger, AIA, received the “Outstanding Young Architect” award and Principal/Director of Marketing, Caroline Brogan, CPSM received the award for “Non-Member Supporting the Profession.”
An independent jury comprised of AIA Fort Worth (TX) members selected AIA-NEI’s 2022 Service Award winners. The jury included Justin Hiles, AIA, (VLK Architects); James Lawrence, AIA, (KAI Enterprises) and Amanda Schulte, AIA, (Bennett Partners Architecture).
