Paul Klee is a principal at FGM Architects and the firm’s regional PK–12 education leader for the Mid-Atlantic Region. With more than 36 years of experience dedicated almost exclusively to PK–12 school design, Paul has led the planning and design of more than 100 elementary, middle and high schools serving urban, suburban and rural communities. His work has supported learning environments for more than two million students and reflects a long-standing commitment to educational excellence, safety, adaptability and community stewardship.

Paul is a nationally recognized thought leader in learning environments for the 21st century and the creator of the Next Generation Learning Guiding Principles, a research-based framework that aligns pedagogy, technology, and space. His approach helps school systems move beyond one-size-fits-all facilities toward flexible, learner-centered environments that support evolving educational models and long-term value. Paul collaborates closely with superintendents, facilities leaders, educators, students and community stakeholders to translate educational vision into high-performing, durable schools that earn public trust.

An active leader in professional organizations, Paul is an Accredited Learning Environment Planner and has served in leadership roles with AIA and the Association for Learning Environments (A4LE) at the local and national levels. He is a frequent speaker, author and educator on PK–12 design, school safety and learner-centered planning.
