Kristina Waugh
PK-12 Educational Researcher and Planner
Practice Area Team
A former school principal, Kristina deeply understands the community of teachers, administrators, district personnel, students and parents that comprise an educational environment. She seeks to guide these stakeholders through a process of dreaming what is possible in order to create world-class learning facilities that enhance the well-being of students and teachers. Kristina is an innovative problem-solver devoted to developing learning environments that foster human flourishing.
Kristina's passion lies with honoring the culture, diversity and mission of each school. She was able to implement that passion in a very meaningful way as a school principal overseeing award-winning renovation and addition from bond through occupancy, translating the school’s mission into a physical design. She said, “When designers and educators work as partners, they can combine their expertise and learned experience to create something remarkable.” This collaborative effort inspired her to make the move to FGMA, enabling her to positively impact the public education system and the next generation of teachers and learners.
The power of education runs strong in Kristina’s family: She, her husband and one of her two children have all worked as educators; her other child is pursuing his MBA. An animal lover, Kristina has three dogs and a bossy red cat and is trying to convince her husband to say “yes” to small cows, goats, llamas and chickens.
