City of Edwardsville Breaks Ground for New Public Safety Facility

Congratulations to the City of Edwardsville on the ground breaking of their new public safety facility. On Saturday, August 27, city officials, public employees from the Edwardsville Police and Fire Departments and contractors of the new facility gathered at Leon Corlew Park for the ground breaking ceremony.

Expected to be completed in October 2017, the new 50,000 sf facility will house the full police and fire department’s administration and primary fire house functions. The public safety facility is designed to reflect the overall historic architectural character of the buildings in the downtown area. It will include a large training room which will also serve as an Emergency Operations Center and community room.

The public safety facility is designed to meet the needs of the city for years to come. The facility will allow for better training for the departments, a better chain of custody and better service to the community. The project is part of a larger initiative for the City of Edwardsville from the mayor which also included the newly opened Spray & Play Park, located behind the Edwardsville Public Safety Facility.
