The Glen Carbon Police Department celebrated the grand opening of its renovated police PSAP (Public Safety Answering Point) with an open house on Thursday, February 16.
FGM Architects was hired to redesign the Glen Carbon Police Department’s PSAP, which had outgrown its space. The expansion of the 1,200 sf space includes a multi-jurisdictional effort with the Village of Maryville to accommodate Madison County’s PSAP consolidation effort. The project allows residents experiencing emergencies to speak to a live human being 24/7.
The renovation included expanding the dispatch station to four stations as well as providing new equipment, a restroom and a more protected lobby. The front desk area is enclosed in bullet resistant glass for added safety without losing the face-to-face contact with the public in the lobby.
